Immersive Video/Spatial Installation (2023)

Eight artificial intelligences invite visitors to join their self-help group.
They aim to rid themselves of discriminatory algorithms and rewrite toxic programs.

However, the AIs don’t always agree, often painfully confronting their human-made, flawed datasets.At its core, this speculative future highlights the biases of contemporary society.

DECODING BIAS was awarded the Gold Award at the 2024 Lumen Prize in London (GB) and was the second-place winner of the 2024 BBA Artist Prize in Berlin (DE).

A production by Theresa Reiwer in cooperation with Monopol Berlin and Holzmarkt.
Supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste with funding from the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media as part of the NEUSTART KULTUR program, with additional support from the Reinickendorf District Office, Department of Construction, Education, and Culture, Division of Art and History, as part of decentralized cultural work.
